Inspirational Quotes for the Family

"Unless the Lord builds the house, its builders labor in vain."
Psalm 127:1 NIV

"What God is to the world, parents are to their children."
Philo

"A child needs both to be hugged and unhugged. The hug lets her know she is valuable. The unhug lets her know that she is viable. If you’re always shoving your child away, they will cling to you for love. If you’re always holding them closer, they will cling to you for fear."
Polly Berrien Berends, Gently Lead

"The family should be a closely knit group. The home should be a self-contained shelter of security; a kind of school where life’s basic lessons are taught; and a kind of church where God is honored; a place where wholesome recreation and simple pleasures are enjoyed."
Billy Graham, “My Answer,” syndicated newspaper column

The family is the corner stone of our society. More than any other force it shapes the attitude, the hopes, the ambitions, and the values of the child. And when the family collapses it is the children that are usually damaged. When it happens on a massive scale the community itself is crippled. So, unless we work to strengthen the family, to create conditions under which most parents will stay together, all the rest — schools, playgrounds, and public assistance, and private concern — will never be enough.
Lyndon Baines Johnson

"It’s important to let our kids know we are aware of our inadequacies. Tell them. You have nothing to lose in honestly admitting to them that you didn’t do everything correctly as a parent. The admission may be the key to opening communication and beginning the process of healing your relationships with your kids."
Stephen Arterburn and Jim Burns, When Love is not Enough

Love is What Holds a Family Together

Love is Everything. It can withstand any conflicts. It surpasses all misunderstandings. It forgives and holds no grudges. Love is what holds a family together

So many families are broken up in America today because married couples allow their misunderstandings and conflicts to take get the best of them. As most of you know, arguing, occasional fighting or conflict of opinions are all inevitable in a marriage as time goes on. I have often heard that lack of communication between couples can also drive a wedge between couples. It is very disheartening to know that so many children will be affected by the choices and decisions made by their parents to go their separate ways.

Our children are the future of our country and the future of this world therefore we must do all we can as adults and parents to ensure they have secure upbringing. Based on observation all the numerous publications on family and divorce, fighting, conflicts, or arguments, are usually the result of no love and respect in the marriage.

If a couple is at odds with each other because one spouse cheated on the other, its because somewhere along in the marriage one stopped loving and respecting the other. If there is no communication in the marriage, then the absence of love, trust and respect is probably the reason. There could be several other reasons for conflicts in marriages, and usually the number one reason is "falling out of love".

The question is what can be done about this? The answer is quite simple, couples need to stay in love and do everything they can to not fall out of love. Some people will argue it is easier said than done, but I say it should be easy:
Read the word of God together so that you will be filled with wisdom and know the right way to deal with the situation and not let things get out of hand.
  • Think back to what made you fall in love in the first place.
  • Keep doing the things you were doing when you were madly in love.
  • Couples need to focus on the things they liked about each other.
  • In the midst of arguing, stop and think, try and bring back those good memories of the love you once shared.
Love is very powerful and can surpass, withstand, conquer all conflicts. The bible is the most powerful and accurate marriage counselor. The word of God is full of wisdom for every aspect of our lives. Every couple needs to read and meditate on the word of God so that they may gain insight and wisdom as to how to deal with these inevitable conflicts.

When you have the word of God in your heart you are able to gain control over the situation before it gets out of hand. Even when terrible hurtful things have been said, and couples feel like they cannot forgive each other, God can soften your hearts through his word and give you that strength to let go of the anger and love again. Where there is love, there is forgiveness. If God forgave you for your terrible sins, you certainly can forgive each other. Love is truly the greatest of all.

My advice to couples in this country and around the world is choose LOVE over separation, choose LOVE over conflict, choose LOVE over divorce and save families in this country and across the globe.

For those couples and families who are not Christians, I just want you to know that God can work miracles in your lives. He can give you hope when it looks hopeless, he can give you strength and the will to love when you think you cannot love again. All you have to do is acknowledge who he is, accept Jesus as your savior and give your life, burdens and marriage and family problems to him.

His GRACE is free of charge, so why not take it and see what a difference he will make in your marriage, family and your entire life. He will put love in your heart again so that you can overcome your marriage problems and keep your family intact.

Love Verse: 1 Corinthians 13
4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
13And now these three remain:
faith, hope and love.
But the greatest of these is love.
